In this video, we’re going to be looking at sneaky compulsions, sometimes known as covert compulsions.
These are the kind of compulsions where we may be seeking reassurance from ourselves without necessarily realising. It is any subtle action you may take to try and avoid a feeling of anxiety.
Sneaky compulsions are usually mental acts and subtle behaviours like avoidance.
They can include self reassuring statements like:
“I know it’s not me because when I dealt with a similar thought before it was definitely OCD”
Or “I would never truly think that so it must be OCD”
Other examples may be “I felt sure the other day, so that must mean it's true”
