HEAD OFF THE CENTRE LINE:
Having your hands up by your head when you’re low kicking in the pocket doesn’t give you a greater defence….in fact you’re creating a bigger target.
The trick is getting your head off the centre line and having your shoulder create the defence.
If you want to kick with your hands up than that’s cool. Just don’t have the false sense of security of thinking you’re more protected…..or….. that you’ll easy land punches on someone who swings their are as they kick….it’s not impossible to do but it’s not that easy.
He’s a little example of a kick being thrown while in the middle of an exchange.
I have a good low kick against punches drill which is featured on my Muay Thai Sparring tutorial (link in bio) which his hosted on the @warriorcollective’s market place.
