Being included in a group with PSG and Bayern Munich meant that Anderlecht were never likely to challenge for the top two spots in the Champions League, but they will have fancies their chances against Celtic in the race for Europa League qualification. Before the first whistle has even been blown it’s likely that Anderlecht will be playing damage limitation on Wednesday. They have lost both of their Champions League games 3-0, and now come up against a rampant PSG side with a point to prove.
Monaco’s shock Ligue 1 victory last season has spurred the big spending Parisian outfit on in a big way. They destroyed the World record transfer fee as they shelled out almost £200 million on Neymar, and their agreed £150 million fee for Kylian Mbappe increases their spending further. Add that to their already formidable attacking force of Edinson Cavani, Julian Draxler, Lucas Moura, and Angel Di Maria and Anderlecht face a terrifying prospect on Wednesday.
