Denmark did what was expected of them in this World Cup qualifying campaign, finishing 2nd in their group behind the massive favourites of Poland, but beating Montenegro by four points in the end to set up this playoff clash. They narrowly missed out on Euro 2016 after losing to Sweden in the playoffs, so they will be desperate to make amends here.
They are in good form coming into this match too. They are unbeaten in their last nine games in all competitions, winning five times, including a stunning 4-0 win against Poland in September. They did fail to beat Romania in their last match, but they will undoubtedly be formidable opposition.
It’s much the same story in Copenhagen. At home Denmark have won six, drawn two, and lost one of their last nine outings, with their only defeat coming against Montenegro and them picking up victories against Poland and Iceland and a draw with Germany in that time.
They have found the net in all but one of their last ten home games, but have conceded in six of them as well and face a Republic of Ireland side intent on building on their Euro 2016 successes.
