Midtown Madness is running under VMware Player 12. The guest operating system is Windows 98. Their is 128MB's of RAM allocated to the virtual machine. The virtual machine is virtualizing a SoundBlaster 16 audio adapter. VMware does not provide 3D acceleration for the Windows 98 guest. In order to achieve high resoutions and 32-bit color depths, I'm using the UniVBE Vesa drivers for video. The drivers provide high reoslutoions and color depth, but their is no support for 3D acceleration. I'm running Midtown Madness at this color depth to show how the game appeared in software rendering. This is how I use to play the game back in the day before one took 3D acceleration for granted. It was loads of fun back in the day, but I sure don't miss it!
