So, the most wonderful and life-changing event has happened! The baby is born! What now? Diapers, feedings, putting to bed, and changing your living doll take up most of your time. And you still need to have time to eat and shower. My midwife said it's better to lie stinking in bed for two weeks, getting up only to eat, go to the bathroom, and change diapers (for yourself and the baby :D), than to do everything at once now and suffer from incontinence in old age. Your pelvic floor has been stretched and worked hard during labor, and it will take the next six weeks to recover on its own. After six weeks, recovery will need active support. The organs are no longer flattened somewhere under the ribs. They also need time to return to their original positions in the abdomen. In short, the most important message from my midwife to me, and from me to you, dear ladies, is: SPEND THE FIRST TWO WEEKS AFTER BIRTH IN BED. Feeding your baby, eating yourself, and admiring your little one can and should be done lying in bed. In Germany, the time after birth is called "Wochenbett," which literally translates as "bed week."

Does this mean that nothing but lying down can help recovery? Quite the contrary! By doing GENTLE exercises, lying on your stomach a couple of times a day, and trying to regain the feel of your pelvic floor muscles, we can enhance the natural recovery process.

This practice can only be performed if there are no postpartum complications. If you had a C-section, episiotomy, severe tears, or anything else, you should wait until your doctor says it's okay to practice.

My apologies in advance for my outfit choice! I had too much milk, and any clothes were extremely uncomfortable. I spent the first month and a half walking around the house naked. :D

Wishing everyone a speedy recovery!
