This video goes over a simple way to test your psoas or hip flexors. You should be able to hold this position no problem. However, most people are unable to hold this for 30 seconds or they will shake as they hold it. This often times indicates weakness or inhibition.
If you find that you are weak or inhibited, follow the link below to work on improving your psoas function.

This is a test for psoas or hip flexor strength. For this test, stand with your back against the wall, arms by your side and palms against the wall. Slowly raise one knee toward your chest at or above your hip level. Relax your ankle. Hold this for 30 seconds while you continue to breathe. After 30 seconds, switch sides. Remember to relax your raised ankle and continue to breathe. Repeat this exercise on each side. If you are unable to hold this, or you start to shake, chances are you are weak or have inhibited hip flexors. Weakness or inhibition is often caused by prolonged sitting and can be a cause for lower back pain. For the fix, go to my psoas strengthening video in the corrective exercises playlist.
