This video is perfect for nurses who want to learn everything you need to know about Epinephrine. 💊👩‍⚕️

In this video, I will teach you about Epinephrine pharmacology, including their mechanism of action, types, indications, adverse effects, contraindications and special considerations. 👩‍🏫🏫

Epinephrine mainly acts as a beta-1 and -2 agonist with mild alpha-1 agonist activity. When epinephrine binds to beta-1 receptors, it causes a positive inotropic and chronotropic effect, while binding to beta-2 receptors causes bronchodilation, and binding to alpha-1 receptors causes vasoconstriction. It is also known as epi and adrenaline. It is used to treat acute heart failure, hypotension, cardiac arrest, bronchospams, reactive airway diseases and anaphylaxis. Adverse effects include chest pain, tachycardia, hyperglycemia and nervousness. Hypovolemia should generally be corrected before use. Epi can be administered intravenously, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, or inhaled. Only push epi for cardiac arrest. Excessive use of inhaled epi can cause paradoxical bronchospasms. In the case of anaphylaxis, the injection should be administered in the anterolateral thigh.
