How to use the Vizrt 4 2D Ribbon.

The Vizrt 4 2D Ribbon geometry allows you to create a curved strip geometry. When you drag a 2D Ribbon into the scene it looks like a long rectangle. When you go into the properties editor you are presented with a lot of different options.

Much like the 2D Patch there is an interactive mode that you can select active. Once you do that you are presented with handles. You can use these handles to create a shape with the ribbon by clicking and dragging on them. Just remember, for the interactive control points to work in the scene editor window you’ll need to have the Handle Scripts / Plusing Events On / Off button active in your scene editor window. This button is above the trash can, below the snapshot.

Some of the other settings in the 2D Ribbon include:

Number of Control Points, which will add or subtract the number of control points on the ribbon. The control points are what you can click and drag if the interactive mode is on.
Resolution will increase or decrease the polygon count thus increasing or decreasing the resolution of the ribbon. The higher the resolution, the smoother the ribbon curve will be. If you decrease the resolution all the way down to the minimum number it will create a sharp edge.
Closed Curve will connect both the beginning and end of the ribbon creating a closed path.
Control Point Size will increase or decrease the size of the control points. Again, once you turn the interactive mode on these control points will become active.
Working Mode has a dropdown selection that allows us to choose Ribbon, Filled Area or Double Outline.
The ribbon is great for creating flare effect graphics. You can achieve this by mapping any flare texture to the ribbon.
