Binghamton is a city in the state of New York. It is the seat of Broome County. Surrounded by rolling hills, it lies near the Pennsylvania state line in a valley at the confluence of the Susquehanna and Chenango Rivers. Binghamton is 135-miles northwest of New York City but approximately a 180-mile drive. It is the principal city of the Binghamton metropolitan area (home to 250,000 people). The city-proper's population in 2020 was 47,969.
