15/15: Symphony No. 25 in D-flat major, Op. 179: Largo grazioso: “Floating Anchors”, GSO 302 (from Ryan Balaz’s “Masquerade”)

The making of this piece was wonderful! Jannah Bowen had contacted me regarding a 48-hour film festival her college was doing, and she recommended me to the director as the score-writer. This director was Ryan. Over that weekend, we tirelessly worked with the weird, randomized prompt we were given to produce a movie, and after the filming was finished, Jannah and I stayed up all night, editing and composing (respectively) as the final touches. The film was not as well-received as we hoped, but it was still a wonderful experience for me, and I love it regardless.

Fun fact: the title of the soundtrack, "Floating Anchors," was originally supposed to be the name of the film, but we soon changed it to "Masquerade," which sounded cooler to us.

One instance of the film is here, on Jannah's channel:    • Masquerade | UNLV 48 Hour Film Festival

Originally, I desired the twentieth album (and therefore Phase V as a whole) be the beginning of the final compilations (that which is now called the Final Generation). The album cover featured a mirrored image of myself assuming a grandiose pose in a library in Seattle, Washington. However, with the conclusion of 19: Whisper and prospects of future pieces, I quickly realized the final compilations should not be numbered or tied with the numbering system (hence why they are now differentiated with Roman numerals instead of Arabic). The twentieth spot was reopened and immediately filled with the groundbreaking piece Onwards (finished on December 25, 2016), after which the album was named. The library cover was completely abandoned and replaced with a heavily value-inverted picture of a tree that had grown through a boulder.

All music was made with samples from Garritan's Personal Orchestra 4 and plugins from FL Studio.
