VISUAL IS DEAD. Yes, it enraptures me to hear the demented work of R-shitei once again.
In virtually any person's life comes a time when one simply must extricate the overwhelming accumulation of stress from the course of everyday life. There are several ways to go about it, with one being to hit the floor. Go to a dark alleyway at night, hang up the sand bag, blast this tune in your earphones, and beat the living f*ck out of it as you imagine the face of the douche you hate the most -- whether it be your boss, your co-worker, or the guy next door. I did this countless times when "Doku Moru" first came out (which explains why it took the Throne that week), and I see myself doing it again with this new masterpiece. But that won't be the only thing I'll be looking to do this time around.
It appears that DaizyStripper went down a similar path with "Derringer". The last scene from the SPOT preview clip featured a depressed girl holding a notebook with "death" written all over it. I'm assuming the title "Derringer" comes from the name of a pistol from Remington Arms. The lyrics ever so beautifully convey the art of a romantic shooting death. DaizyStripper has been unstoppable all year long, and this gem might be on par with "Setsubou no Freesia", if not better.
Speaking of the past, JUJU has made her first appearance on this chart in almost three years ("Hello Again ~Mukashi kara aru basho~" ranked 99th in the Final 2010 Countdown). Since then, she's released nine singles before re-captivating my heart with "Distance". A simple song of regret for lost love, something that seems quite common in the J-Pop realm, but the difference in quality seems absolute when this lady sings it, compared to the idol groups and wannabes that have come to dominate this genre.
On a completely unrelated note, multiple songs rose back in to the Top 30 this week.
Why FEST VAINQUEUR opted to relegate the beauty known as "Atsuki Juusei no you ni" down to a mere complimentary track for another single, I will never understand. Not only did they go through the effort of making a great promotional video for it, the song itself is exponentially superior to the "NANIWA SAMBA" garbage released back in August. In fact, it ranks among the best songs released this year.
I will likely never understand why Versailles is now KAMIJO and Jupiter either. I won't deny that KAMIJO is a phenomenal vocalist, but the solo just doesn't do it for me. As for Jupiter, even with a different vocalist, the emphasis is still on the outstanding instrumentals. It seems like the second episode of Ayabie, except it isn't. It just doesn't make any logical sense what so ever to bring in a new vocalist when there was nothing wrong with the previous one.
Last, let's talk DEATHGAZE. "Allure" is good. "Allure" is great. The only reason I don't have as much appreciation for it as I did for "DEAD BLAZE" is because it sounds similar to "USELESS SUN". I strive for something new.
