New design incoming - with good reason.

While having a variety of colors can be entertaining, it subsequently subtracts some degree of professionalism from the countdown. This latest design features the Artist Name stacked on top of the Song Title (along with information regarding Album/Mini-Album, Anime OP/ED Theme, CM Song etc), with a difference in the font size. The Japanese version of the Artist Name and/or Song Title are written next to the Roma-ji where necessary. Overall, this is an advanced version of the SuG inspired design that was previewed last year. In other areas, the font for "Debut/Drop/Rise/Stay" is now different, and the "Appearance" total has been converted to "Weeks". 'Whether or not you like this better than the previous design is solely based on your personal taste, but I will say that this design in itself reduces production time significantly, and less portion of the video previews are covered by the text due to the elimination of the Japanese one-line reviews that were previously displayed at the bottom of the video.

We will likely stick with this design for the remainder of the year unless we receive a substantial amount of complaints from viewers.

The "Previews" section has been moved to before the Top 5 for THIS WEEK ONLY. It will be relocated back to before the Top 3 next week - which will be Chapitel 24 only.

I will refrain from discussing the contents of the countdown for this week since I believe it's better if you just watch it to understand what happened instead of read about it here. Although I will clarify that the Top 5 - even with the LMN vote factored in - matches the Top 5 based on viewer voting precisely.

Lastly, I will talk about the intro. kannivalism is one of countless underrated artists. The intro theme for this week is the band's most recent release, titled "Yurikago ga Yurete Iru". The song flew under the radar for me last year, but I can honestly say - it is simply beautiful. From my understanding, the PV is a post-war scene, although it could be a depiction of the aftermath from the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan on March 11, 2011 (since the single was released soon after). The lyrics basically convey a message - "we're hopeless, but for now, let's just sleep, let's just dream, and reminisce the good times of the past. Don't fake a laugh, or try to act like you're happy when you're not. Your natural smile is the best, and nothing else can bring more joy to my heart". I don't consider myself to excel at translating Japanese to English by any means, but I believe that covers the point.

It is truly scenic, and I could not agree more. For anyone out there watching this countdown, your life may not be so pleasant. It might be ordinary. It might be miserable. But if anything, cherish everything you have and every moment of happiness that you endure in life. Because one day, all of that may be history. And if you're feeling down, just sleep for now. Tomorrow will be better.
