LMN J Music Top 30 Countdown 2014.02.20
The stage for a fierce battle is set.
Not only have 14 Debuts knocked out half of the songs that Debuted to kick off 2014, the likes of Alice Nine, Crimson Shiva, DIV (2 Singles), ViViD (again), and KAMIJO are waiting in the wings. I'd love to talk about all five (six) and more, but let's save that for the next countdown. We already have enough to talk about this week alone.
First up, we have SHISHIDO KAVKA. I will be straight with you here, the amazing gem that was "Kiken na Futari", released last year, completely flew under my radar. Had I known about the song back then, not only would have it charted, it may have even made the Final 100. The relief here is that the Double-A Side Single released 2014 is even better. I didn't dig the main track as much as I did the second, but if you're interested, do a quick search to hear it full.
eS and DISACODE are two bands that I haven't paid much attention to as of late. With DISACODE, the band has been around since 2007. They just never seem to release any singles, and the albums they've been putting out year in and year out haven't generated a whole lot of publicity. eS, on the other hand, doesn't seem to know the how-to when it comes to gaining publicity. I don't know if they prefer to keep a low profile, but this is a band that engages in live tours, just put out a PV for a single that (at this point) is live-limited, and doesn't seem to have an OHP --- leaving us viewers no choice but to follow the member's blogs to keep track of info on new releases.
Moving on to REALies: great song as usual. "NEXT" still stands as my all time favorite for REALies, and I wish they would release more singles of that nature as opposed to the melodramatic rock they've been doing recently.
Lastly, let's talk about Yoko Hikasa. If you didn't know before, she is the one behind "Mio" in K-On!! --- which means she was the one singing Mio's part in the Houkago Tea Time songs that were on here back in 2010. I knew here solo was good before, but this new release just blew me away. It's not something I could describe in words. It's simply that awesome.
I prefer to keep the descriptions short (well, compared to last year anyway) so I will say no more (for now). Hopefully you will enjoy the countdown; all feedback is appreciated as always.
