April 11, 2013 Syria_US actions on Syria are contradictory -- Assad advisor
Bouthaina Shaaban, an advisor to the Syrian president, spoke to RT about how the Syrian conflict is seen from different sides.
She believes that "BRICS countries can make a very firm international stand for stopping violence in Syria".
"It is not a crisis that is only in Syria, but it is a crisis being fed, armed, financed by both regional and international forces", added Bouthaina Shaaban.
One of the obstacles to ending the conflict, according to the advisor, is that "the Western side does not really live up to what it says". She adds that, "what is being said is absolutely detached from the truth".
"We have been hearing sometimes different statements, sometimes contradictory statements coming from Washington. On the one hand they say, we support Geneva agreement, on the other hand, like Robert Ford saying, we support establishing court ruling in some areas", added the advisor to the president of Syria.
Bouthaina Shaaban is sure that if US Secretary of State John Kerry "truly supports the Geneva agreement, would truly support the stopping violence immediately... he will find Russia, and China, and the BRICS, and the Syrian government of course welcoming that".
The advisor says if there is international will to stop the shipment of arms to all sides, that may be a way forward.
"So if there is an international will to stop armament to every side at this moment, that probably could be discussed" she said.
