Feb 11, 2013 Russia_Russian Emergency Minister reports on mine explosion
At least 18 people have died in an explosion at Vorkutinskaya coalmine in Russia's Komi Republic on Monday.
At a media briefing on the disaster, Russia's Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov said an aircraft has been sent there "with a rescue team, all necessary equipment and facilities aboard."
"We will provide doctors and teams of medical aid specialists -- psychologists, who will provide necessary psychological help for those injured in the disaster", said Puchkov.
The minister added that "the families of the injured and victims will receive two million rubles per family and the necessary social package", according to an order from President Putin.
