Aero India, Asia's biggest air show, opened its doors in Bangalore on Wednesday.
The biennial aerospace, defense and civil aviation exhibition is taking place for the ninth time at the Yelahanka Indian Air Force base. More than 400 companies from 26 countries are represented.
The Russian section, organized by Russian Technologies, features 10 types of airplane and five helicopter models.
The legendary aerobatic team Russian Knights will be performing at the show.
Praveen Pathak from the Russian-Indian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace told RT: "This exhibition is very significant not only for India but for Asia in general. India purchases a lot of aviation hardware from Russia, we have SU-30 MKI, MiG-29K for the Admiral Gorshkov [aircraft carrier]. That's why this event is very important for potential sellers."
Russian officials also see India as a key market for military aviation.
"India is a strategic partner for Russia in the military-technical sphere, we have been cooperating for more than 50 years already", said Aleksandr Fomin, the head of Russia's Military-Technical Cooperation Service.
The show runs until February 10.
