Janice Gunner is a highly respected textile artist, quilter, author and quilt judge who has devoted more than five decades to exploring the creative possibilities of cloth and stitch. Known for her technical excellence and spirit of experimentation, her work spans a wide range of styles, materials and textile techniques.
In this interview, Janice presents highlights from her retrospective exhibition A Lifetime in Textiles, celebrating 50 years of creative practice. While she continually explores new ideas, she is perhaps best known for her work with Shibori, the traditional Japanese resist-dyeing method that also inspired one of her books.
