In this tutorial, Alex from Make It Happen will be demonstrating how to construct a replica katana out of Styrofoam. Which is con-safe, cheap and easy to build. If you would like to make this sword blade even thinner, you could use a thin sheet of foam core, but the art board spine would need to be strengthened.

Katana handle wrap tutorial:
   • Tsuka-Maki.  Basic ito wrapping tutorial.

Materials used:
Styrofoam, EVA foam, craft foam, paper art board (it’s like a 2mm thick card stock), PVA wood glue, Hot glue, multipurpose gap filler (acrylic putty), spray paint and primmer, acrylic paints (thinned down for air brush use), and shoe lace (it’s got to be the wide and stiff kind).

Tools used:
Pens, rulers, scissors, Stanley knives, rotary tools (sanding drums), hobby knives, hobby cutting board, fine sandpaper (120 and up grit), brushes (sponge/foam and bristle), Air brush kit (mini air compressor and air pen), paper towels, safety gear, etc.

To my subscribers, sorry for there not being any uploads since October. I did have a fallout cosplay for Supernova Brisbane in November, but my camera had a malfunction. In December I had two projects: this katana and the next video (you’ll have to wait), which are taking a long time to complete due to workshop malfunctions and the holiday distractions. I hope that this year I can have a more productive uploads. So thanks for your patients and Happy New Year.
