LMN J Music Top 30 Countdown 2012.03.29 ~Chapitel 9~
It is uncertain if a Top 30 featuring only three Debuts qualifies as a new Chapitel, but such a week comes with a plethora of staggering RISE and DROP.
At least two songs rose by more than 15 ranks, as Acid Black Cherry's "Re:birth" is picked up high.
Of course the real question is, will ALSDEAD make it x3?
Sometimes, you fail to appreciate how good a song is after listening to it excessively. And then you forget about it for a few months and listen to it again to experience absolute bliss. Such is the case with "Re:birth" - probably listened to it over thirty times in the past week. It's good, it's refreshing.
As mentioned last week, ACE's "Night of the Knights" features outstanding instrumentals - and I simply could not resist previewing it in this week's countdown. It's true. The lyrics are good and the same holds true for the vocals. But the absolute gem that is the instrumentals played throughout the song is what sets it apart from all else. Please take a few moments to listen to it, and appreciate it. The fact that the PV wasn't shot in a warehouse like many other Visual Kei PVs adds even more prestige to the song, but if you're still not convinced, might I recommend that you give "FOOL'S GOLD" (track 02 from the same single) a chance. If neither song convinces you, then I don't know what will.
Now - without further ado - let's get straight to previews.
Ahh yes, the long-hyped Sadie and DEATHGAZE will finally enter the LMN Chart in Chapitel 10, and both are destined to rank high. But let's not forget Para:noir's "nihilism."
As you've probably heard already, Para:noir recently disbanded, making this the last song released by the band. I must say, I still prefer "Amaryllis" but this too is outstanding nonetheless, and will be missing Para:noir.
twenty4-7 has also announced disbandment, making "Last Message" truly the last message by the ladies. And allow me to emphasize "ladies" - not "girls." twenty4-7 is in a class of its own, far and beyond apart from all other J-Pop. This isn't some teenybopper idol trash releasing songs that sound the same every other month. This is pure, mature J-Pop defined, at its highest quality. This use to be the standard for J-Pop back in the 1990s and the early 2000s, and it is absolutely disappointing that this standard is lost more and more by the day as K-Pop influence continues to affect J-Pop in a way I sincerely do not like.
With regards to Sadie - good album. "RED LINE" is far better than "Rosario" in my opinion, but I still prefer the likes of "Dress," "cry more," and "Toge" - in other words, the 2010 Sadie.
As for DEATHGAZE, I admit I have this undesirable tendency to underrate DEATHGAZE all the time. It's definitely time to change that. This new album is blowing me away and "RING THE DEATH KNELL" ....ahh the blood in my veins lusts for more.
