"Anyone home?" I call out as I walk in the house, I walk into the kitchen and find the note taped to the fridge
'Demi,
Gone to pick up Joe! Explain when we get back.

I sigh and jump on the counter, the door swings open and my dad storms through the lounge and into the kitchen
"Whats up with you?" I ask
"Your mother" He grumbles "Im going out!" He yells and storms back out as mom and a guy im assuming is Joe walks in
"Mom" I say jumping of the counter and walking over to her "Whats going on?"
"This is Joe" She says. Joe looks at me and smiles, he's kind of handsome but it still doesnt explain things
"And? Who is he? And why is he here?"
"He just got out of jail" She says
"Are you crazy?" I ask her
"Demi, your just like your father. Im going to show Joe to his room-"
"Mom! What do you mean his room? Do you remember this is my house? You and Dad are leaving tomorrow"
"Ill explain in a minute" She says and takes Joe upstairs. I wait for mom to come back down and when she does she walks around me and sits on the couch. I sit on the chair
"Explain this mess to me mom"
"I think you can help him"
"Mom-"
"He's an ex-cop"
"Who just got out of jail" I point out
"Wrong place wrong time kind of thing" She makes excuses for him
"Mom this isnt your problem. So what is he's an ex-cop, this is nothing to do with you or me for that matter"
"He got into a bit of trouble, like you havent Demi. Remember the time-"
"We dont need to go into that"
"You have a lot in common" She says "Talk to him please"
"Fine. I'll talk to him but im not happy about this, you should have asked me first"
