March seems to always be that time of year when the release schedule features an overload of good music. The 13 Debuts enriching the LMN J Music Chart this week is solid proof of that - and that's just the gems that were released on 03/07. It's been quite some time since so many Debuts occurred on a Weekly chart, which will be in effect throughout March to keep the Debut/Drop rate from spiraling out of control.
Like BORN's "Spiral Lie" - such an awesome song.
Let's start off talking about the new 12012 album.
Three words: What. The. F***.
Disappointed would be an understatement. 12012 was one of my all time favorite bands, with absolute gems like "SHINE","Over...", and "Ocean." "The Pain of Catastrophe" from 2010 was still decent, but this new "SUICIDE" garbage is simply unacceptable. Wataru's vocals just doesn't work well for screaming, the instrumentals and lyrics are both mediocre at best, and the song features the lamest PV I've seen in quite a while (on that note, I wish MUCC would've made a better PV for the new song). I haven't heard the whole album yet so I may be too quick to judge, but please tell me this is some kind of joke. If it was some new crap band that just made a debut, I couldn't care less, but this is 12012: I loved this band, and I sure as hell am not pleased to see this piece of s*** released after waiting a year and a half.
Now, if you liked last week's countdown, it's more than likely that you will hate the countdown this week. I'd assume a lot of people expected no.4 to be no.1, which is understandable given how good the song is, but when 7 Debuts reach the Top 10, victory is not so easy. Without divulging the song title or artist name, I will say that the reason it's not ranked as high as it could've been is because it just doesn't have any addictive components to it. The instrumentals are good, the lyrics are okay, vocals....no comment. All I can say is that I loved everything this band released in 2011, and just hope they stick to that music style instead of what I'm hearing in this new song.
This week's previews also features Kii Kitano, who I consider to be one of the most underrated female vocalists out there. "Can you hear me?" is an absolute masterpiece, with outstanding lyrics, and just the way she uses her voice and the way she sings it puts so much life in to it and blows me away. I love this song.
And speaking of good lyrics, I love the new MEJIBRAY song. It's one of those songs that you really can't appreciate how good it is without looking into the lyrics, but once you get it, the addiction is sure to kick in. Same is true with FEST VAINQUEUR and Royz, although all three bands also feature above average vocals/instrumentals.
Lastly, the new livetune feat. Hatsune Miku piece is not bad at all. A lot of people like to hammer anything that features Hatsune Miku right off the bat without giving it a chance, but you never know what you will find. Just like EGOIST - man that song is amazing. It's right up there with K-On, Angel Beats! and the like as far as addicting anime songs go.
(So some fans actually filmed a LIVE ACTION PV for "Trick and Treat," which is pretty damn good. If you're interested, click on the link below...)
