This is one of my absolute favorite sukekiyo songs (if not my favorite). I know there are more recent performances of it, but this one is the most moving in my opinion. The Persuasio one was also a strong contender.
I picked the Kyoto Gekijo 「別れを惜しむフリは貴方の為」live for it and it was requested by Toxxdf.
Translation by me.
Annotations:
"Flutters about" - Also, "dances", but in a swaying, fluttering motion.
"Tranquility lies in the swaying flowers that I watch with you" - "Tranquility" as in one's "peace of mind". The grammar here is used to define something, so like saying "this is what tranquility means to me".
"You, so innocent" - This line actually ends on the particle "ni", connecting it to either the prior line or the one following it. Therefore it could be read as "fluttering to you, so innocent", but also as "playing with you, so innocent". In face of these different options I decided to leave it open.
"Your image" - This word can also be used as just "face", but most often in the sense of someone's "traces".
"Whenever I embrace it - It turns into a castle of sand - With your graceful death" - These lines (or rather, the lyrics of this song) demonstrate a very fragmented, vague way of writing, which is very characteristic of Kyo. Just keep in mind that this translation is reliant on my own interpretation of the lyrics. Also, the final verb in this line is omitted, leaving open what exactly is done with the castle of sand and death.
---------------
I do not own sukekiyo or any of their music or performances.
I translate for fun and wanted to share this translation.
Thank you for watching!
