Overreaching and overtraining have the same origin (training too much and underrecovering) but they are quite different. Here we discuss the differences, the symptoms, how to avoid them in the first place as well as what to do if you are already overreached or worse, overtrained.

There's a good chance that you've overreached at some point before, but overtraining is an entirely different animal. It's months of extending yourself, and I'd say 99.9% of lifters cannot get there. It's a term thrown around a lot.
"I'm tired" = overtraining.

“My performance went down" = overtraining
"I didn't hit a PR" =overtraining.

No. That's all pretty normal. Overtraining is being devastatingly tired and having shite performances for months on end, due to an extreme lack of recovery compared to workload. It's just not a state that most people can even get into, as the body resists it very strongly.
