Everybody want a wider back but nobody wanna stimulate the teres major muscle.
It's that important. The teres major is a fairly small muscle situated under the armpit, but it contributes greatly to the appearance of width-at least as much as the lats do. To fully train the teres major, you'll want to do exercises like wider grip overhand pullups, dual cable pulldowns, pulldowns and standing cable pullovers.
Normal rows and other back work DOES work this area, but to really fully flesh it out I think some of these movements can help a lot! For full descriptions and a WHOLE LOT MORE, check out my book!
