The Inner and Outer Requirements of The Work

It has been said: “For many are called, but few are chosen”. What does this mean in the context of The Work?
We have to realize that not everybody is compatible with The Work at any given time, even if they deeply desire to be. Sometimes there is necessary preparatory work that must be done.If one wants to enter The Work, there are often remedial efforts one needs to make. Without addressing these areas of remedial correction, entering into The Work is nearly impossible.
So what is needed, and how can one effectively do the remedial work? What are the conditions that allow one to enter into The Work? Let’s take an hour or so to discuss these things which each of us has faced, or may one day face, on our individual paths.
