Day 7 of Morning Pages. The pages are allowing me to see myself more clearly. They are bringing things to the surface so that I can process whatever I need to process and let go. The more I let go, the more I connect to my creativity. When I'm not stressing out, obsessing, worrying, etc., I am present. And this is one of the main lessons the pages appear to be teaching: presence. Being fully present in the writing without the thinking. I have resisted this for nearly 20 years. Sure, I have gotten into flows throughout my writing life, but I feel like I'm on the verge of accessing a freedom in writing I never thought possible. (Maybe that's the issue, that I "thought" it was impossible.)
~
Morning Pages are “three pages of longhand writing, strictly stream-of-consciousness.” Julia Cameron is the creator of the Morning Pages. She writes about them in her book THE ARTIST’S WAY.
~
I'm doing these for 30 days, hopefully longer. As soon as I wake up, I write whatever comes to mind. I don't care about grammar; I don't care about subject matter; I don't care about anything but writing. It takes about 20-25 minutes. If you like, feel free to join in on the fun!
Also, if you do the Morning Pages, post how it's going in the comments. I am genuinely interested and will read and respond to all comments. That is all.
