Morning Pages: Day 8

Day 8 of Morning Pages. I didn't want to write this morning. I didn't sleep great and woke up tired. Thinking about writing felt very daunting. Once I started writing, however, all the negative thoughts, anxiety, and dread faded away, and I was able to write no problem. The three pages flew by, and it was over before I knew it. I feel like I am honing in on that part of my mind that likes to complain about writing: the part that thinks it will hurt or stress me out or whatever other nonsense my mind likes to cook up. By pushing through these mental roadblocks, I am seeing them for the lame excuses that they are. Writing is not the difficult part; the difficult part is pushing past all the crap in our minds. When we do this, and we show up, day after day, the Morning Pages tap us into a powerful creative energy that is free from fear, judgment, etc. Don't worry what your mind has to say: show up, write, and let all the other stuff dissolve as it should.

Morning Pages are “three pages of longhand writing, strictly stream-of-consciousness.” Julia Cameron is the creator of the Morning Pages. She writes about them in her book THE ARTIST’S WAY.

I'm doing these for 30 days, hopefully longer. As soon as I wake up, I write whatever comes to mind. I don't care about grammar; I don't care about subject matter; I don't care about anything but writing. It takes about 20-25 minutes. If you like, feel free to join in on the fun!

Also, if you do the Morning Pages, post how it's going in the comments. I am genuinely interested and will read and respond to all comments. That is all.
